T-Rex at the Australian PGA Championship

In probably the most bizarre golf news of the year, a 26-foot mechanical T-Rex is forcing the Australian PGA Championship to leave the Palmer Coolum Resort after playing there for the last time this coming weekend. The Palmer Coolum Resort was sold recently to billionaire Australian mining magnate, Clive Palmer. Despite inheriting a golf course prestigious enough to host a tournament that dates back to 1905, Mr. Palmer has different plans on his mind.

According to reports, Clive Palmer wants to turn the Palmer Coolum Resort into a theme park, or maybe even a casino. A 26-foot mechanical T-Rex has already been erected between the 9th green and the 10th tee and Palmer plans to import more of these molded dinosaurs to create his own version of Jurassic Park! Despite being mechanical, the T-Rex (nicknamed Jeff), has the ability to flip its tail and unleash a menacing roar when approached. This obviously does not go over well with the Australia PGA and it’s the main reason that the Australian PGA Championship will not be returning to the Palmer Coolum Resorts. It’s definitely an interesting development in the land down under but we wonder what the local golf enthusiasts think about a great golf course being taken over by dinosaurs!
