A World Record Drive!

A new Guinness World Record drive was set a few days ago – but not the kind of drive you’d expect! Michael Furrh of Arlington, Texas, broke the world record for the longest usable golf club, driving the ball 146 yards using a driver that measured 14 feet, 2.5 inches in length. The previous record was set by Karsten Maas of Denmark who drove a ball 134.5 yards using a driver 13 feet, 5 inches in length back in 2009.

After the drive, Furrh spoke about the technique he needed to use to hit such a unique shot. “Because the club is so heavy and so long with so much width, you really have to wait for the club to finish its coil in order to start your downswing, so you have to be very patient.” We wonder what the specs were on that driver?! Furrh is a golf professional who trains caddie at the Caddie Club in Dallas and works part-time in the Pro Shop at the Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington.

This world record breaking drive wasn’t the only trick shot Furrh had for the day though – check out the next video below and you’ll see what I mean!
