The introduction of new clubs and gadgets just keep coming! Last week, we introduced the Callaway X Utility Prototype Irons. This week, Callaway introduced the X Forged Irons, designed for accomplished players and professionals. These irons are made using 1025 carbon steel for exceptionally soft feel, and features a tightly-spaced groove pattern that is meant to help players generate the ideal amount of spin.
The X Forged Irons have minimal offset and aims to inspire amateurs, as well as touring pros, to effectively shape the ball. The centre of gravity also varies on each iron, starting low in the long irons and progressively moving higher in the mid- and short- irons. This is meant to allow for higher ball flight and faster stops on long-iron shots, while flattening the trajectory of short-iron shots. Don’t be surprised to see these X Forged Irons in Phil Mickelson’s bag for the 2013 PGA Tour season! For the public, the X Forged Irons will be available on January 25th and will cost about $999.
