Tiger Woods joined long time friend and Stanford roommate Notah Begay III at the charity event, the NB3 Foundation Challenge. There was a 12-player field split into two teams, making it a “east meets west” challenge involving Asian and American players. The “west” squad consisted of Woods, Begay, Rickie Fowler, Gary Woodland, Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson. The other 6-players on the “east” squad included KJ Choi, YE Yang, Danny Lee, Se Ri Pak, Yani Tseng and Charlie Wi.
Woods and Begay beat Choi and Yang 9-7, Woodland and Kerr beat Lee and Pak 8-7, and Tseng and Wi tied Fowler and Thompson 7-7, giving the “west squad” a 2.5 to 0.5 victory. This was a charity event for Notah Begay III’s foundation which is dedicated to helping fight obesity and diabetes in the Native American community.
