In early October, Oliver Wilson captured the 2014 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in what may be the great fairytale golf story of the year! Going into the tournament, Oliver was ranked 792nd in the world and was playing as an invitee. Even Oliver admitted that winning the tournament was a long shot but that’s exactly what he did!
The Englishman represented Europe at the 2008 Ryder Cup and even reached the top 50 on The Official World Golf Ranking. However, a dramatic loss of form saw him lose his card at the end of 2012. In a story of hard work and perseverance, Oliver gives us a glimpse of how difficult life as a professional golfer can be.
Oliver openly discusses his struggles and what he thought may have been the catalyst for his downturn. But he also shares how he got back on track right before playing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. With this victory, Oliver has earned a two-year exemption on the European Tour and we’ll be rooting Oliver on as he tries to regain top form!
