At every major event in golf, it’s expected that golf companies will aim to make some commemorative or limited edition equipment. For the upcoming 2014 Ryder Cup in Gleneagles, Scotland, Adidas Golf has created a series of limited-edition footwear collection inspired by the event, continuing their legacy of providing high-performance footwear for the best athletes in the world on sports’ greatest stages.
The three shoes that are offered include the AdiZero One, Adicross Gripmore and the Adidas PURE360. The technology within the shoes are the same, however, the design elements feature visual cues that are representative of each team’s distinct colour pattern and more. All Adidas Golf tour staffers in the 2014 Ryder Cup will receive the limited edition footwear including Team USA’s Jim Furyk and Team Europe’s Paul McGinley, Justin Rose, Martin Kaymer, Stephen Gallacher and Sergio Garcia.
Jim Furyk will wear the adicross gripmore featuring a tonal print of the USA flag with blue stripes, red laces and red gripmore outsole. Justin Rose and Martin Kaymer will also wear the adicross gripmore with blue stripes featuring yellow stars, yellow laces and a yellow gripmore outsole. Sergio Garcia and Stephen Gallacher will wear the adizero one featuring yellow stripes and yellow accent laces. Outsole features a blue plate with yellow accents. Captain Paul McGinley will wear the pure 360 with blue stripes and yellow laces, and a blue outsole with yellow accents. Unfortunately though, these limited-edition pieces were developed only for adidas Golf tour staffers participating at the 2014 Ryder Cup and will not be available at retail.
